Woodcraft Folk Scotland has 23 groups, mainly in the central belt, though in the past we've had groups in Inverness and Dundee, and there is always interest in new areas! We currently have groups in Stirling, Falkirk, Glasgow and Edinburgh. In Glasgow our groups are in Kelvingrove, the East End and the Southside, and in Edinburgh they're in Leith, Portobello and Bruntsfield.

We offer lots of activities from co-operative games and crafts to a wide range of outdoor activities. There are lots of camping opportunities and hostelling weekends and many of our groups especially like survival camping and learning to cook on an open fire. We like to take part in local community events and festivals too.

Every year in January or February we have a Scottish Gathering open to all members in Scotland. The weekend offers training workshops and discussions as well as being a social get-together. This helps new groups and volunteers see how things work ‘the Woodcraft way’ and gain a deeper understanding of what they are a part of, as well as sharing skills and ideas, and strengthening ties with other groups in Scotland. Every few years we also hold a Scottish camp where all our groups can join together and sometimes we hold a Celtic camp with our Welsh friends.

We've had several Scottish specific projects to date, including our successful Powerpod project and offspring Guerilla Cinema project which engaged young people beyond our traditional group nights. These peer-education projects provided an educational experience of climate change topics and energy issues to a wide range of schools, youth groups, community events and festivals throughout Scotland.

If you would like to know more about our existing groups and projects in Scotland, setting up a new group, or are interested in volunteering with a group, please get in touch with our part time member of staff by emailing - we'd love to hear from you!

We are currently funded by the Scottish Government’s Children, Young People and Families Early Intervention Fund, BBC Children in Need, and the National Voluntary Organisations Support Fund.
