Tuesday, 19 January 2021

Earlier this year we asked our members to take part in this year’s Membership Badge competition. The theme was ‘Supporting our community during the lockdown’. We had quite a few entires and we’d like to take this opportunity to thank all those members who submitted a design. They were all fantastic and the “secret panel’ had a hard time choosing the finalists.

Nottingham Woodcraft Folk help plant a Covid-19 memorial woodland

Saturday, 2 January 2021

On Saturday 5th December, as part of National Tree Planting Week, the Nottingham Woodcraft Folk group teamed up with Carlton Hill Community Action Group to help plant a memorial woodland for the people of Gedling Borough who have lost their lives to Covid-19.

The Elfins group planted 15 native British saplings that had been donated by the Woodland Trust. It was a sunny but cold day, and hot chocolate and biscuits helped keep spirits up. The children did brilliantly to maintain social distancing and were awarded their Ecologist Badge at the end of the day.

Building Up!

Monday, 14 December 2020

Lead by the Slovenia Falcons, Woodcraft Folk will be working in partnership with other IFM member organisations to develop a toolkit to support the transition of young people from participant to leader.

This exciting project will involve youth workers and young people from Barcelona, Austria, Germany. The start of the project has been delayed due to COVID-19, but we hope to hold our first on-line meeting in February working towards a seminar in late August/early September.

Could you represent Woodcraft Folk as part of this project?

Green Influencers Scheme

Monday, 14 December 2020

Woodcraft Folk are pleased to join 40 other organisations in the Ernest Cook #iwill Green Influencers Scheme. The project will be launched in January 2021 and will seek to support and engage young people (10-14 years) in participating in and designed green social projects. Our project will work across Leeds and Bradford throughout 2021 and 2022.

The Green Influencers Scheme was borne out of a desire to help young people reliase their potential to positively impact the environment through youth social action: habitat conservation, tree planting, litter picking, lobbying etc.
