Overview

Pioneer Peace Pack Activity 6 - Positive About Peace

Aim of the activity:
To get question the idea that war is inevitable and to think about what a peaceful world could be like.

What you will need:
Pens and paper;
Flip chart sheet and marker pens;
Blutac;
Roll of drawing paper/poster paper or back of an old roll of wall paper;
Paints, crayons, felt tips etc;
Copies of the SEVILLE STATEMENT ON VIOLENCE (download from the foot of the page)

Pioneer Peace Pack Activity 5 - Child Soldiers

Aim of the activity:
To explore the experience of child soldiers and the reasons why they have become involved in conflicts.

What you will need:
Two chairs;
Copies of the CHILD SOLDIERS STORIES
Flip chart sheet and marker pens
Pens and paper
Paints, crayons and poster paper

Aim of the activity:

Pioneers will learn:

That conflicts between people are normal.
How to prevent minor disagreements from escalating into serious fights.
Steps for working out conflicts fairly and peacefully.

World without war

Aim: To think about life would be different for everyone without war.
You will need: A group of people, props (optional).
Duration: 20 minutes

Imagine how things would be different if there weren't any wars. Each person in the group should take on the role of a different character. They should act out what they think their character would be doing if there weren't any wars going on. They can also interact with other people they come across in the room and find out how their lives are different too.

Some suggested characters:

Peace Words

Aim: To introduce the theme of conflict and peace.

You will need: List of words (below), large smiley and unhappy face pictures (optional).

Duration: 10 minutes

Introduce the session by explaining that you are going to be learning about conflict and peace. This means times when people are fighting, and times when people are getting on well. Explain that for this game, one end of the room is for all the happy words linked to peace, and the other end is for all the bad words linked to conflict.
